Most Kairo meetups go great. Here's how to help make sure yours does too.

Before you meet up

• Video chat or message for a bit first. It's the easiest way to check the person is who they say they are.
• Meet in public the first time: a coffee shop, a park, a group activity with other people around. Save your place for later.
• Tell a friend where you're going and who you're meeting. Share your live location with them if you can.
• Get yourself there and give yourself a way to leave. Don't rely on your host or match for a ride, especially the first time.
• Trust your gut. If something feels off before you've even left the house, it's fine to cancel.

While you're there

• You don't owe anyone your full name, address, workplace, or socials until you're comfortable sharing them.
• It's fine to leave. You don't need a perfect reason. "I have to go" is a complete sentence.
• If something feels unsafe, tell a staff member where you are, or call emergency services.

If something goes wrong

Kairo doesn't run background checks and can't guarantee who anyone is in person. That's true of any app, which is why the steps above matter. If someone makes you uncomfortable, breaks the rules, or does something that isn't okay:

• Block them. Open their profile or your chat with them and block. They won't be able to contact you or see your activities again.
• Report them. Same menu: report, pick a category, add detail if you want. Our team reviews every report, and we don't tell the other person who filed it.
• You can do both at once. Reporting doesn't mean you have to keep talking to them first.

In an emergency

Kairo is not an emergency service. If you or someone else is in immediate danger, call 911 (or your local emergency number) first. Tell us after, if it's relevant. We want to know, but we can't respond in real time.
